Interesting Birds

Birds, flying above us, soaring on the blue, blue sky...
I wonder how many types of birds are there in this world...

Birds always fascinates me. They are a unique group of animals that could fly and dominate the sky...
These are some interesting birds I came across during my readings...

The Southern Cassowary - The devil among birds

This bird is usually found across most of Papua New Guinea.

It has large, strong claws, making extremely dangerous upclose.
When cornered, this big bird does not hesitate to lash out its claw.
On several occasions, people are known to be severely injured and even killed by this bird.

Mute Swan - The royal bird

In Britain, this bird is held with the highest regard.
The title "Royal Bird" is given to this bird at the time when they are still bred for feather and food.
Breeders and owners have to tag their swans...
Any untagged swans becomes the property of the Crown (Royal Family of England)

Ptarmigan - The Thunder Bird

The Ptarmigan lives in harsh mountainous areas in the tundra.
The Japanese people call them the Thunder Birds because they live on high mountains
where there are a lot of thunder, storm and mist.
The Inuit people, however, believed that burning this bird's feather will bring thunder,
even in the middle of a winter.
